Group Facilitator

I have been working in the Trade Union movement for the past 25 years and have seen many significant changes in that time. Some of it not too good like the Trade Union laws to restrict Trade Unions and also the subsequent decline in membership. However I have seen and am still seeing some very good and positive changes the most significant of which is the support for self organisation and the development of the Lesbian and Gay members organisation as well as that of the, Black members, Disabled members and Women members.

For many years I have been involved with the self organisation of women members but recently, with the redesignation of Organising Assistants to Branch Development Officers, I became the facilitating officer for the Lesbian and Gay Committee. It is encouraging to see and very active dedicated band of members on the Committee, however we are always pleased to welcome and meet new members who wish to be involved.
